Approach
Heather Befort discovered art therapy while exploring career paths and quickly realized it aligned with her passion for helping others heal. She earned her Master of Science in Art Therapy Counseling from Emporia State University and is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work through Fort Hays State University.
Heather currently serves Avenues for Change as a receptionist while she is completing her practicum.

Growing up on a farm in Northwest Kansas, Heather developed a deep appreciation for creativity, connection, and the importance of caring for others. Outside of the work, she enjoys creating art, photography, reading, hiking in Colorado, spending time at the lake, and making memories with family, friends, and her many pets.
With a personal connection to first responders through her own family, she is especially passionate about supporting those who dedicate their lives to serving others.
