Deep Work. Real Movement. No Cliffhangers.
Traditional therapy can sometimes feel like a weekly check-in. By the time you’ve settled in, caught up on the week, and finally reached the heart of what’s bothering you, the session is ending.
The Integrative Avenues Therapy Intensive offers another option.
This specialized format provides a concentrated period of therapeutic work—typically 3 to 6 hours over one or two days—giving you more time to move beyond the weekly cycle and focus on deeper processing, healing, and meaningful progress.
How it Works
Phase 1: The Blueprint
90-Minute Pre-Intensive Session
Approximately one week before your intensive, we meet virtually or in person to:
-
Identify your goals
-
Explore the areas where you feel stuck
-
Prepare for deeper therapeutic work
-
Make sure you have the coping and regulation tools you need
This session helps create a clear, intentional plan for your intensive experience.
Phase 2: The Intensive Day
4–6 Hours of Focused Therapeutic Work
This is the deep-dive portion of the process.
With the benefit of extended time, we can follow a thought or experience more fully, process trauma, explore long-standing behavioral patterns, and work toward meaningful movement without having to stop because the traditional hour has ended.
Your intensive includes scheduled brain breaks, nervous system regulation, and time for integration throughout the day.
Phase 3: Integration
60-Minute Follow-Up Session
Approximately one week after your intensive, we meet again to explore how the work is showing up in your everyday life.
Together, we’ll discuss what has shifted, what still needs attention, and the next steps that can support continued growth.
What Is a Therapy Intensive?
A therapy intensive is an extended therapeutic session designed to create more time and space for focused work.
Instead of opening a difficult topic and having to stop because the hour is over, an intensive allows time to stay with the process, follow thoughts and emotions more fully, and work through patterns or trauma with fewer interruptions.
For some clients, this can be especially helpful when traditional weekly therapy feels too fragmented or when schedules make ongoing weekly appointments difficult.

Is a Therapy Intensive Right for You?
An intensive may be a good fit if you are:
The Time-Crunched Professional
You want meaningful therapeutic work but have difficulty committing to weekly appointments for months at a time.
The Slow-to-Warm Client
You often find that it takes most of a traditional session to feel comfortable enough to reach the deeper issues you want to address.
The Breakthrough Seeker
You’ve been in therapy for some time but feel like you’re talking about the same things without experiencing the change you’re hoping for.

Investment
Insurance & Payment
Therapy intensives are a specialized clinical service and differ from traditional 45- to 60-minute therapy sessions. Most insurance plans do not currently have a reimbursement structure for multi-hour intensive sessions.
Avenues for Change does not bill insurance directly for the intensive portion of the service.
Upon request, a superbill can be provided for clients who wish to seek possible out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance provider. Coverage and reimbursement vary by plan, and clients remain responsible for the full intensive fee regardless of reimbursement.
In many cases, HSA or FSA funds may be used for an intensive. We recommend checking with your plan administrator beforehand to confirm eligibility.
Because an intensive requires a significant block of dedicated clinical time, the standard 24-hour cancellation policy does not apply.
Cancellations made less than two days in advance will result in forfeiture of the deposit.
