Telehealth (Remote)

Wherever you are!

Avenues for Change offers telehealth (remote) therapy in the following states:

Kansas:

All of our therapists are currently licensed in the State of Kansas and meet with you virtually. The only requirement is you must also be in Kansas!  Review any of the Kansas location information to connect with a therapist. We also have therapists (Marilea Williams, LMFT, David Miller, LPC, and Thelma Igbokwe, LPC-T) who only see clients via telehealth. Their information is below.

Some clinicians also provide services to clients in other states including:

David Miller, LPC

Counselor

Critical Incident Stress Management Trained

David is a Licensed Professional Counselor serving couples, men, college students, and adolescents. David has worked in higher education for more than 20 years and understand the concerns and conflicts young adults are experiencing.

Life is full of obstacles (divorce, parenting, failed relationships, etc.), and sometimes we need a trusted guide to navigate. I understand. We'll build a space for open dialogue, compassionate support, and practical tools. Whether you're a college student facing pressures, a parent seeking balance, a struggling athlete, a spouse hoping to keep your marriage together, or dealing with anxiety and depression, I'm here to serve you. I serve Kansans remotely statewide and I'm available during "non-traditional" hours (evenings, weekends, early morning). Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is my preferred approach and I've discovered most people crave someone who will listen and encourage.

With over 20 years of experience in higher education, I understand the unique challenges young adults face and the obstacles life can throw our way. Together, we will create a safe space for open dialogue, compassionate support, and practical tools to help you navigate your journey. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, relationship issues, or seeking balance in your life, I'm here to guide every step of the way. I offer remote services to Kansans, including flexible hours to accommodate your busy schedule. Let's work together towards a brighter future.

Thelma Igbowke

Licensed Professional Counselor - Temporary

My approach to counseling is grounded in a relational, person-centered framework that emphasizes the therapeutic alliance as the primary catalyst for change. I believe meaningful and sustainable growth occurs within a safe, collaborative, and empathetic therapeutic relationship where clients feel respected, understood, and emotionally supported. Establishing trust and psychological safety allows individuals to explore vulnerabilities and internal experiences without fear of judgment.

I approach the counseling process with deep respect for client's lived experiences and acknowledge the courage it takes to engage in self-exploration. I work alongside clients to help them increase emotional awareness, develop insight, and strengthen their capacity for intentional and value-driven decision-making. I view emotions as meaningful sources of information that, when understood and regulated, can guide adaptive responses rather than automatic or maladaptive patterns of behavior.

I primarily work with adolescents, young adults, and adults, supporting individuals as they navigate emotional regulation, identity development, life transitions, and interpersonal challenges. Through a compassionate and strengths-based approach, I aim to foster emotional balance, self-understanding, and personal growth that aligns with clients’ values and long-term goals.
